Today on the #salestage, she shared tips for aspiring saleswomen, asking for what you want, and where she might be if she weren’t in sales.
🌱 WHAT YOU HOPE CHANGES ABOUT SALES
I’m looking forward to seeing companies place more importance on #RevOps as an essential function of the business.
It’s a field that is growing fast, and it’s crucial to have a holistic focus on the customers’ journey, from that first touchpoint all the way to purchase.
RevOps helps deals move faster and helps everyone work together efficiently, so I’m excited to see this field keep growing!
💃 WOMEN TRANSITIONING INTO SALES
Ladies – speak up! One of my favorite quotes is, “if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”
Even if you’re the only woman in the room, don’t let that intimidate you or keep you from asking for what you want. There is always room for diverse perspectives in this industry.
If you want that career in sales, go for it!
💡 IF YOU WEREN’T IN SALES
If not sales, I’d maybe try marketing. I don’t think I’d ever get too far away from RevOps!
💸 MOST OVERRATED SALES ADVICE
“ABC: Always be closing” – obviously it’s important to keep activity up and stay active on pitching, but there is so much more to sales than that!
These days, reps need to focus on understanding the product, goals and challenges, prospects’ fit, relationship-building, problem-solving, and the different aspects of the sales cycle. No one can be a closing machine without following the rest of the process.
🤝 TIPS FOR NEGOTIATION
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want – it’s not aggressive, it’s your job!
Get comfortable with silence – when you keep talking, you might end up negotiating against yourself.
If all else fails, blame it on a third party – “my CRO won’t approve that, but what we CAN do is…”
🍷 BLOWING OFF STEAM
I love hanging out with friends after a long day! Nothing like a glass of wine and a good vent sesh.
